This is not your average gun show
“Charm and humour that is dangerously misleading.”
This gig promo was posted in February 2026. It has passed, but the story stands. See what is on now
Backstage pushups and lyrical weight lifting, Time to add Monstress to the gym playlist
I was blindsided. Honestly never heard anything like it. I have a message deep in my phone history that recounts the moment I first heard them, I believe the words “Holy SH*T” and “they got something” were mentioned. Let me more formally tell you about Monstress.
It starts reflective. They get your mental attention. Then they demand your emotional attention. Before you know it you are on your feet raging.
It is a 5-piece collective of pure talent.
Nu-jazz having a secret handshake with Hip Hop.
Sarah writes from the gut sharing stories of a 2nd generation migrant. The lyrics are hard-hitting and political. But the groove is so deep you catch yourself dancing to the heavy stuff.
It’s Tank & The Bangas meets Meshell Ndegeocello with their own hidden strength.
They do push-ups backstage.
It’s not just the boys who provide a gun show.
Energetic & Empowering.
An absolute top gig waiting to happen and soon I might add, very very soon.
They are bringing a secret weapon to this show. A sneaky preview of a yet to be released track. It features the support act Bronte Alva.
It is beautiful and it is all about love.
Perfectly fitting for the night and your valentine we know you are bringing along.
Look, Sarah has considered moving to the Gong countless times. She loves the South Coast. Let’s give her a reason to stay.
