- It’s story time, and something tells me the children should be in bed before we expose them to this.

Dawn Melanie has merged the bone-chilling storytelling of Nordic folk with the wordly pulsing heart of Afrobeat.
Somewhere in the distance the heavy presence of a horse and the rider sit, watching, waiting, cloaked by darkness. They say that Death rides a horse, that he’ll come looking for you.
Chills - right from the opening lines.

“Death Has” is a bilingual English/Zulu track featuring Buda A and Nat Bruzas.
Written when the world stood still in 2020 with the Covid pandemic and the world faced it’s reality, life becoming a protected priority more than ever before.

Not long after the track was lost to a digital void, only to be recovered and remastered now. Might even say it was a resurrection of sorts

From the opening acoustic playing to what feels like an isolated landscape.
Layer in the swelling Zulu harmonies, it paints a vast, star-riddled landscape where we may sit and share our tales of life, overlooked from a distance by the subject of our song.

It’s a conversation between Fate and Death, urging us not to fear the end, but to consume life while we have it.
Our guides await when the time comes, standing idle.
