That was my first thought hitting play on Caught in Blur, the new EP from Out of Focus. A riff built on the heavy sludge and filth of the grunge legends. No better way to open an album, just delivering a solid statement at full force, full of grit.
Riff injection straight to the brain.
Out of Focus understand the full spectrum though. The set travels hard rock to soft indie and somehow takes everyone with it. Nu metal muscle, Breaking Benjamin melodics, moments of real tenderness. They move between those worlds like it’s nothing. As a new listener, there’s so many entry points. Tick those boxes.
What actually sets them apart is how they hold a room. This is a band that talks to you, not at you. The crowd becomes part of the show. That’s a rare thing to pull off, and they’ve worked it out.
This week they’re launching their EP Caught in Blur, and there’s a new single landing two days after the show.
Worth knowing and following this group to hear what comes next.
It’s quite unpredictable really.
Locals Silvia Lane and Red Violet are on the bill too.
This will be a very welcoming and energy laced show on all fronts.
Worth your time getting familiar with the EP, recognise those moments you can sing along and traverse the paths to the show.
