I am forever impressed at just how much impact a two piece can generate across a track.
They cite Royal Blood as an influence. Another two piece with that huge sound I love a fuzz guitar tone as much as the next bloke, and this one on So You Say covers some ground.
Broadened by the ferocity of the drums, ensuring every moment attains the thud in your chest that keeps the heart pumping.
The vocals bring out some real animal moments.
They talk about the release of emotion. That defiance and desperate split.
The anger undertow against the words “manipulator, you’re the one to blame here.' A great opportunity to bring the listener in with the feels and have them throwing the words out with some internalised rage they harbour themselves.
“This song feels like I’m slowly stripping away a mask,” says vocalist Dylan.
“In the past, lyrics have sometimes been a place to hide a form of escapism. With this track, and what’s to come, I’m leaning into honesty and catharsis instead. I hope people can hear that depth and maybe find something of themselves in it too.”
Written as a means of working through recent family events. Perspective, loss, the difficult act of looking beyond one’s own point of view.
Short. Punchy. Has some serious guts. A new life, a rage and release direction. This one is staying on my weekly rotation for the weeks ahead.
