Our Story
A letter to the music industry
In a little while, you will see exactly how strong a community can be within the walls you have built around this space.
There is no greater connection in life than that of a group of people enjoying music together. Artists deserve much more than you give them. It is time you witness that change.
I am different. My desires differ. My passions differ.
And that is what you will see.
Two years.
That is how long this has been living in my head. Not as a business plan. Not as a startup pitch. As a problem I could not stop thinking about.
I have been in and around this industry long enough to feel it. The pull of live music. The connection that only exists in a room full of people who all showed up for the same reason. I have been on stage. I have been in the crowd. I know what it means. That memory I will take to the grave. And I hope more and more people get to have it.
And I have watched the same thing happen over and over. Artists, the people keeping this whole thing alive, getting taken from at every single turn. Every platform, every intermediary, every service that touches what they have made takes a piece of it. Not because they earned it. Because they can.
Streaming turned music into background noise and pays fractions of a cent for the privilege. Ticketing platforms stack service fees until the price a fan sees barely resembles what the artist set. Merchandise gets ordered on gut feel, sells out at the wrong venues, and ends up as landfill at the others.
That last one I know personally. I have helped bands with their merch. Helped set things up, run embroidery, make smart decisions. I know how much cash burns when the planning is not there.
Nobody has fixed this because nobody who could fix it has felt it the way Artists feel it.
So I built something.
One Volume is a ticketing and merchandise platform. Artists list their events, set their prices, and keep 100% of what they charge. Fans pay a small platform fee on top. Nobody takes a cut from the Artist. That is not a marketing promise. That is the architecture.
This is a solo project. I have sacrificed a lot of time to build it and I will sacrifice more to grow it. But the goal is not to build a company for its own sake. The goal is to build a community infrastructure that makes this industry more sustainable for the people who give it its soul.
I am not under any illusion that this is easy. Someone could come along tomorrow and do something similar. But I know why I am doing this. And I am not sure they would. The thing that keeps this industry going is not the platforms. It is not the fees. It is the Artists. It is the fans. It is the people who show up.
We are in it for the rest of us. That is the only way this works.
This is not a manifesto written by a marketing team. It is a journal entry from someone who got angry enough to do something about it.
If that lands with you, we would love to have you along for it.
